HOSPITALITY 101:
CLASSES ARE BEGINNING NOW
Our goal is to instill such a commitment to hospitality and customer service in our frontline visitor contact businesses that guests to America’s Wild River Coast will stay longer than planned, return sooner and more often than expected, and encourage their friends and associates to come to the area. We see tourism as a critical, renewable revenue source that will improve the profitability of all of our businesses and enhance the lifestyles of those of us who live here. And, best of all, helping guests enjoy memorable experiences is fun and exciting!
Our program is built on training frontline workers to provide exceptional guest service. It starts with 16 hours of basic customer service training that covers the philosophy of exceptional customer service, how exceptional customer service is defined, how businesses and frontline staff benefit financially when exceptional service is delivered, and some of the key ingredients sought by guests to our area. Many business owners will be very interested in how we show the dollar value of retaining customers, and just how profitable is repeat business, something every employee and associate should know.
After the basic customer service training is complete we offer various internship programs that cover restaurant service, retail sales, front desk service, etc. These provide more job-specific guest service training that individuals and businesses will find extremely beneficial. We are looking to expand our internship training and suggestions for additional areas to target are most welcome.
To further make our training programs more available to all we have broken the basic 16-hour course into four 4-hour segments. These are being offered in Gold Beach on successive Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Pacific Reef Hotel, on April 11, 18, 25 and May 2. Interested individuals and businesses can (and should) sign up by calling Mary Foote at (707) 464-8347. There is no charge for these sessions so they should act immediately to reserve their spots as seating may be limited!
